The well-established art shop and workshop Dal Toso is located few steps away from the gateway of S. Lucia, from where you can clearly hear the sound of hammer on copper metal, the sound of a four generations old shop.

Augusto Dal Toso, the founder, started his business in 1896 to produce kitchenware such as copper pots and buckets, his son Igino started soon to work with him and made himself known as a talented craftsman and businessman, so that he became director and president of the artisans mutual fund of Vicenza.

Few years later his son Luigi started working in the family business as (a) highly specialised craftsman in the production of ornamental items made through traditional techniques like embossing and chisel.

 

As a copper metal artist, you need to be passionate, patient and on a more practical side, you need a lot of samples like hammers, chisels, anvils, gravers. In 2002 the shop was taken over from Igino Alessandro, Luigi’s son...here we are: four generations of Antica Bottega Dal Toso running business.
