A rare anecdote relates to Dal Ponte watch store: back in the days everyone could startle at the Thursday market, while hearing the sound of many alarm clocks hold together on a robust wire. That was the way Umberto Piantella - the owner - drew attention, calling new customers inside his shop. He was used to let the clocks ring every fifteen minutes, in order to let everyone know, there was a watch store over there. Right there on November, 18th 1918 the young Pietro Dal Ponte started his career, he was a shy thirteen year old boy, ready to become the factotum of the store. After learning his profession, Pietro decided to start his own business in 1944, but Umberto Piantella checked the situation and preferred to retire, leaving Pietro taking over the store.

Here is how the workshop changed his name in Dal Ponte and slowly started its transformation in what it represents today. “Back then” tells Alberto, son of Pietro, who runs the business with his brother Sandro “repairs was our main job, in fact the shop windows were showing the workbenches in their brightest light”. Nowadays selling overruns repairs: Dal Ponte sells brands like Longines, Tissot, Rado, Hamilton and it is not all about watches, silverware, jewels and goldware are also a highlight.
